I am a happily married Christian lady with three adult children, all working internationally. My eldest son is employed with Disney cruises, while my other 2 children are preparing for their upcoming summer camps in the United States. As a family, we are all deeply involved in the tourism and hospitality industry.
I was born in Boksburg, Gauteng, and currently reside in the vibrant city of Cape Town. I initially studied accounting but soon realized it was not my calling. I transitioned into the travel industry; I was fortunate to be mentored by fantastic travel professionals as my career headed into corporate international travel while I lectured travel at Birnam Business college in Johannesburg.
I find enjoyment and satisfaction in complex, multi-city/country itineraries and crafting of personalized trips whilst delivering exceptional service.
I pride myself on providing you with professional personal service committed to exceed your expectations when planning your next holiday adventure or business trip.
Travel is a complex activity, although portrayed as simple on-line action there are many loopholes that travel customers are not aware of. The intricacies of travel code are rarely advertised and even more rarely understood by the traveling populace hence the requirement for experienced consultants.
35 years of corporate travel experience which allowed me the opportunity to work for some major organizations ranging from in-house offices to external dedicated accounts like SABC, NEDBANK, SA BREWERIES, SAPS, ABSA and MERRILL LYNCH to name a few. Over the past decade my experience has grown to include central and northern Africa with all the intricacies that go with travel in Africa.
After years of DIY-ing my own travel arrangements, I had a particularly complicated trip coming up, and was referred to Carla Christopher of Gold Travel by a friend who was a big fan. Carla quickly found me a better plan than I’d managed to find by myself, at a slightly better price; and continued to provide excellent service throughout the trip – nudging me about visa requirements, doing check-ins etc. When an internal flight in Europe was cancelled, Carla jumped to help, even though it was a Sunday. She was a lifesaver then, and on a subsequent equally complicated trip involving two of us and three countries, one of which introduced via requirements at the 11th hour. She’s my “travel companion” from here on out.
